Bayer in Radiology and COVID-19

Date: March 24, 2020

As the Canadian healthcare system prepares to face an unprecedented challenge in patient care, we’d like you to know that we stand with you. This page contains several updates about Our responsibility as your partner, Product supply continuity efforts, Customer engagement, and Our commitment to you.

Our responsibility as your partner:
We take COVID-19 (coronavirus) very seriously and are taking important and necessary measures to keep our employees and customers safe as the situation evolves. We also understand we have a responsibility to your providers, stakeholders and patients. As a valued partner, we want to reiterate our primary goal is to ensure the health and safety of our larger community, while acting with sound reason and judgment.

Product supply continuity efforts:
We are maintaining critical business functions and supporting infrastructure to minimize the potential for any interruption. This includes building contingency plans for critical and medically necessary products including Gadovist, MEDRAD® Sterile disposables, and MEDRAD® Injection Systems.

As of the date of this communication, there are no known issues with the supply of contrast media or sterile disposables for CT, MR, and PET injections systems.

We have been managing an ongoing sterile disposable supply constraint for MEDRAD® Avanta Injection Systems. This lead time has already been proactively communicated to affected sites.

We value your trust in our products and our people, and we are working hard to ensure we can continue to supply our customers with the products they need while continuing to keep our employees and the community safe. Thank you for your support and patience. We will continue to communicate any updates as needed in the coming days and weeks as we continue to monitor the situation.

Customer engagement:
We are taking necessary measures and precautions for the health and safety of our employees and customers, while continuing to perform on-site business critical activities that ensure patients can get the imaging procedures they need.

At this time, business critical activities are emergency service of our equipment, preventative maintenance that limits equipment failures, installation of new equipment, onsite clinical training required to enable customers to perform procedures, and production related activities.

We are asking our employees to confirm the personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines requirements of the hospital prior to visiting. Given the importance of PPE as well as the reality of limited supplies in the marketplace, we may need your support for any required PPE.  While we hope we do not run into such a situation where there is a lack of required PPE, if we do it will impact the planned service activity.

All activities that can be conducted remotely will be performed remotely. We will leverage virtual and digital tools to continue to meet and support our customers; including providing virtual training and service support.

Our commitment to you:
Your Bayer in Radiology team represents a broad swath of Canadians. That means that our friends, our family, and our team relies on the healthcare system. We’re fully dedicated to supporting you during this challenge. In some cases, our expertise could be useful for a challenge you’re facing. Rest assured we will focus on everything we can to provide you with the products and service support you have trusted us to deliver for your patients. We will continue to update our customers as much as possible during these uncertain times in a clear and transparent way.
