The causes and cures of artifacts in MRI
We invite you to watch this recording presented by Dr. Martin J. Graves on “Artifacts in Enhanced and Unenhanced MRI: Causes and Cures”. As Dr. Graves describes, the three main sources of artifacts in MRI include (1) the MR system hardware, (2) physics of MRI acquisition and (3) patient related factors. Artifacts related to the MR system hardware can be due to the static magnetic field, gradients or the radiofrequency system. Physics related factors could include the Fourier encoding process, electrical properties of tissue or tissue relaxation. The biggest source of artifacts in MRI is probably the patient, where motion can cause considerable challenges.
Dr. Graves presents these different sources of artifacts and solutions in an interactive quiz format, allowing you to follow along and test your knowledge of artifacts in MRI.
